Romansh Literature in Madrid

A collaboration between editionmevinapuorger and the Swiss Embassy in Madrid

The Swiss publishing house editionmevinapuorger, which specialises mainly in Romansh literature, wishes to organise a cultural event for the EMNA RUMANTSCHA 2025 under the patronage of the Swiss Embassy in Madrid.

With a bilingual publication by the Romansh writer Gianna Olinda Cadonau (*1983), we are proud to present Rhaeto-Romance literature and language to an interested public in Spain.

A selection of twenty-twoo poems from the two publications by Gianna Olinda Cadonau, published by edtionmevinapuorger in 2016 and 2020 has been made.

We present a bilingual, Romansh-Spanish edition. The romansh poems are translated into Spanish by the hispanist Dr. Rita Catrina. In a prologue and an epilogue is presented by the editor a portrait of the Engadin poet, and a abbreviated overview of the history and the Romansh language and culture.

The publication is intended for an interested reader, both academic and amateur and a lover of European cultures.

However, the publication might also be intended for South American countries where Spanish is the main language.

The author, the translator and the editor present the publication the first time in Madrid , on 18th of February at the Círculo Bellas Artes.

Gianna Olinda Cadonau (*1983) ist in Scuol aufgewachsen, hat in Ftan die Mittelschule absolviert, in Genf internationale Beziehungen und in Winterthur Kulturmanagement studiert und ist gegenwärtig an der Lia Rumantscha in Chur für die Kulturförderung verantwortlich.
